Colorado Tried the Gun Control Wishlist. Crime Went Up Anyway.
Colorado bought the whole gun control package. Crime went up 26.2% compared to pre-pandemic levels. Nationally, violent crime fell 8.1%.
CO violent crime rate: 492.5 per 100K (up from 423.1)
CO property crime: 3,147.6 per 100K (national avg: 1,954.4)
CO murder rate climbed while nationwide murder fell 6.1%
Gov. Polis signed assault weapons ban, expanded background checks
The theory depends on criminals behaving like law-abiding citizens. They do not. That is why they are criminals in the first place. Colorado tried the gun control formula. It delivered a 26.2 percent increase in violent crime while the country saw an 8.1 percent drop. That is policy failure with statistics attached.
