Fairfax Let an Adult Illegal Immigrant Into a High School. Twelve Girls Paid the Price.
Fairfax County, Virginia, managed to stack failure on top of failure here, and every single one landed on the backs of teenage girls.
Israel Flores Ortiz, an 18-year-old from El Salvador who was nearly 19, was enrolled as a junior at Fairfax High School, about 20 miles from Washington, D.C. He is now charged with nine counts of assault and battery after being accused of repeatedly groping girls between the legs in crowded hallways during class changes. Twelve girls have reportedly come forward.
Twelve. That is not a misunderstanding. That is not horseplay.
A Preventable Scandal at Every Level
Flores Ortiz entered the United States illegally in 2024 and was released under Biden administration policy. So the first failure was federal. He should not have been here in the first place.
DHS Deputy Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis put it bluntly:
"This 19-year-old criminal illegal alien should NOT have been attending a Virginia high school."
What Parents Say Happened
Parents say students complained for months before anything meaningful was done.
"It was not just a butt smack or a butt grab. It was a groping of a private area. It had been occurring for several months."
Principal Georgina Aye sent a letter describing the incidents as "touching students' buttocks." Parents say that description minimized what actually happened.
"They attempted to diminish what happened to these girls."
The Judge Saw Enough to Deny Bail
A judge denied bail even though prosecutors did not oppose release, after reviewing surveillance video. The court looked at the video and decided this defendant should stay locked up. That tells you the evidence was serious enough to cut through the usual institutional shrug.
Fairfax Refused to Cooperate With ICE
ICE lodged a detainer and Fairfax County Sheriff's Office failed to honor it. DHS is now publicly begging the county not to release him. Lauren Bis directly tied this case to Virginia's political leadership:
"Governor Abigail Spanberger ended cooperation with ICE and is siding with criminal illegal aliens over American citizens."
Every Layer Failed
Biden administration policy let him in and released him
A public school enrolled an adult illegal immigrant among minors
Complaints reportedly went unaddressed for months
School leadership allegedly minimized the assaults
Fairfax County failed to honor the ICE detainer
Governor Spanberger ended ICE cooperation statewide
The girls deserved protection. Their parents deserved honesty. Instead, they got excuses, minimization, and a government at every level that failed them until it could not hide the consequences anymore. That is the cost of leadership that treats enforcement as cruelty and truth as a public relations problem.
